Deep learning-based video surveillance device specialist RC Co., Ltd. (CEO, Chang-sik Lee) and Vision AI specialist Onemore Security Co., Ltd. (CEO, Min-sik Kim) announced on the 6th that they signed a business agreement (MOU) in September to launch a ‘Women’s Safety Restroom and Missing Person High-Speed Search System’ to strengthen the safety of the socially vulnerable.

Crimes occurring in public restrooms such as parks, subways, and bus terminals still threaten the safety of citizens, and sexual crimes such as hidden cameras in women's restrooms in particular require even stronger safety measures. With the recent advancement of artificial intelligence technology, object recognition and tracking, and even gender identification are now possible, and the scope of its use is expanding, such as selective control of real-time dangerous situations and even high-speed searches by inputting the description of a missing person.

Among the systems launched by RC Corporation Ltd. and OneMoreSecurity Corporation Ltd., the female safety restroom includes real-time gender identification and automatic alarm functions to prevent criminal acts through CCTV cameras. It can be operated to enhance the safety of women using public restrooms with few people at night and prevent crimes in advance.

In addition, due to the aging population and the increase in single-person households, the number of missing person reports is rapidly increasing every year, exceeding 53,900 cases in 2023 alone, which is more than double the number in 2022. As the number of missing person reports, including those of elderly people with dementia, increases every year, the need for efficient and rapid high-speed searches is increasing. Currently, most cases rely heavily on manual searches and citizen reports, which means that the golden time is often missed when a missing person occurs.

Chang-sik Lee, CEO of RC, said, “A high-speed search system for missing persons using AI facial recognition technology, image Re-ID, and attribute-based matching technology can dramatically reduce the human and social costs required for search by enabling faster, more effective, and more accurate matching.”

Min-sik Kim, CEO of OneMoreSecurity, added, “We are actively reflecting this in our system through stakeholders and various communities so that the solution can provide real help to the people it is intended to protect, especially the socially disadvantaged, and we believe this will be a good example of how AI can be utilized for the public good.”
