Last year, with the occurrence of unexpected crimes, such as the stabbing incidents at Sillim Station and Seohyeon Station, intelligent closed circuit (CCTV), which can prevent such crimes, began to receive attention. Recently, the government announced that it will actively promote the intelligent CCTV industry.
Seoul City plans to invest 126.5 billion won to replace all CCTVs in Seoul with intelligent CCTVs by 2026. Local governments, including many regions in Gyeonggi Province and Jeonju City, have also begun to expand intelligent CCTV.
Companies are also focusing on developing intelligent CCTV solutions. A variety of fields, including security companies, artificial intelligence (AI) companies, and telecommunications companies, are showing interest and releasing products.

According to the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) on the 17th, there are currently a total of 161 products that have received intelligent CCTV evaluation certification.
The core technology of intelligent CCTV is how accurately it identifies the actions of people and objects. However, the intelligent CCTV in the integrated control center installed in Korea is still not widely used and satisfaction is low.
KISA's Intelligent CCTV Evaluation and Certification System is a system that was created under the government's judgment that in order to spread the use and increase satisfaction with intelligent CCTV solutions, a system is needed to increase technological capabilities by modifying and supplementing low-performance solutions and certifying excellent solutions.
Certification can be granted only when detection is more than 90% accurate in each of the six areas of loitering, trespassing, abandonment, collapse, fighting, and arson.
Currently, security companies such as S1, MarkAny, and OneMoreSecurity, and AI companies such as Conan Technology, Innodep, and Intellivix have received this certification. Although the certification expiration date has passed for all of them, the three mobile communication companies, SK Telecom, KT, and LG U+, also received the certification for their intelligent CCTV solutions.
Certified products are products with guaranteed accuracy of over 90% and can provide high trust to customers, so interest from companies is growing.
An official at the KISA Intelligent CCTV Testing Center, which manages the certification, said, "Not receiving certification does not mean that it cannot be supplied to public institutions or is disadvantageous, but it is used as an indicator of product reliability. The number of certified products is increasing compared to when the system first started." He said.
